The selection process is competitive and awards have generally ranged from $500 to $3500. The scholarship employs a reimbursement process requiring validation of tuition payments.

Important note:  A completed scholarship application and official transcripts from all educational institutions must be received at B'nai Israel by close of business on April 15th.  Be sure to request transcripts from your institutions early to insure on-time delivery. 

Louis d. traurig scholarship trust

B'nai Israel's Brad and Seth Mahler Camp Scholarship Fund. The purpose of the fund is to provide awards each year to enable youth from our congregation to experience Jewish camping. Scholarships will be awarded based on financial need.

The Louis D. Traurig Scholarship Trust at B'nai Israel provides scholarships to students from the Greater Waterbury Area to help defray the cost of college or graduate school education. Founded in 1988 by the late Rose and Edward Traurig, more than 200 scholarships have been distributed, totaling more than $400,000. The Traurig Scholarship alumni now bring their talents to a host of fields, including health care, law, education, the arts, clergy, and business. Several have also entered young leadership positions within  the  Jewish  community.  Factors  and  data  weighed  by  the
