            RABBI ERIC POLOKOFF



Rabbi Eric Polokoff has served as B’nai Israel’s rabbi since the 1997 merger created the congregation. In this capacity he provides leadership for a congregation of approximately
300 family members.

Within the larger community Rabbi Polokoff currently sits on the National Commission of the Anti-Defamation League and its National Outreach and Interfaith Affairs Committee, and the Executive Committee of the Anti-Defamation League of Connecticut, serving as Connecticut's Interfaith Co-Chair and Chair of the Confronting Anti-Semitism Project. He is active in many local and state-wide interfaith councils, and is a member and the Interreligious Affairs Committee of the Central Conference of American Rabbis. Rabbi Polokoff actively participates on the Board of Jewish Communities of Western CT - an organization in unique partnership with B'nai Israel, and is the Associate Jewish Chaplain of The Taft School.

Rabbi Polokoff's rabbinical affiliations include: the Central Conference of American Rabbis;
the New England Rabbis CCAR Region; the New Haven Board of Rabbis; the New Haven Area Reform Rabbis Council; and the Rabbinic Cabinet of United Jewish Communities.

Rabbi Polokoff received his Sacred Theology Master's from Yale Divinity School. His rabbinic ordination and Master's in Hebrew Literature are from the Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion in New York, and his undergraduate degree is from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Earlier in his rabbinate, he was rabbi of Congregation B'nai Chaim of Southbury and an executive in New York at the Reform Movement’s umbrella organization, now known as the Union for Reform Judaism.

Rabbi Polokoff lives in Southbury with his wife and two children.
