    Shabbat Services

    Join us for our Erev Shabbat Service on May 24th at 7:30 PM as we honor our graduating High School seniors including Melissa Buccino, Alex Lampel and Victoria Messinger.  We also honor our Veterans on this Shabbat closest to Memorial Day.  On Saturday Morning Torah Study led by Rabbi Eric is at 10 AM, followed by a brief Minyan at 11:20 AM co-led by Dennis Guillaume and Rabbi Eric.

    GraduationB'nai Israel held the graduation of Kitah Zayin on Tuesday May 14th at 7 PM in the Sanctuary; a reception followed in the Weinberg Social Hall.

    B'nai Mitzvah Students of the Week:

    annajakewassersteinRead about two separate students this week!  We feature Anna Pekovich and Jacob Wasserstein.  The Webmaster takes responsibility for any delay in posting!  Anna is selling homemade crafts to raise funds for needy people in our area.  Jake has developed a tutoring program for inner city children. Click on their names to read more about both of these amazing projects!

    When Southbury Said NO! to the Nazis:  1937.  75th Anniversary Commemoration

    75 years ago the town of Southbury put a halt to the establishment of a Nazi training camp in the Kettletown section.  B'nai Israel and the Jewish community have figured prominently in the commemoration, that has included the creation of a new award-winning film "Home of the Brave."  See "Home of the Brave" trailer here.  As part of an educational program "Home of the Brave" was featured at the United States Senate on May 8th  And click HERE to learn of upcoming showings.  

    From Israel To America: A Personal Journey

    emissariesWe celebrated Shabbat with our Israel Emissaries: Yuval Barkan and Assaf Ben Kish on Friday November 30th 2012.  Yuval and Assaf provided meaningful reflections on their experiences as Israeli youth in the United States and on the importance of the relationship between American Jews and Israel.  It was an inspiring evening! Listen to the podcast of their remarks.

    Traurig Scholarship

    The Louis D. Traurig Scholarship Trust accepts applications for scholarships for college or graduate education. The application period has been extended two weeks (from the April 15th deadline).
     

    Camp Scholarships

    The Brad & Seth Mahler Camp Scholarship Fund application deadline has passed.  Contributions to the fund are being accepted.
